Here are some examples of different print techniques.

woodcut print is a type of relief print. Woodcut printing is a process where the artist carves a image into wood, then uses a ink to place the desired colours on the raised parts of the carved wood block. The raised parts will be the printed parts. The next step is to place a piece of paper over the wood block, sometimes damp paper works better as it gets into the groves of the wood. After this the artist can either continue to print by cutting away more of the wood and printing more colours on top, or they can just use the one colour.

engraving is different to relief printing as the the ink goes into the groves. once the ink is placed onto the plate you wipe the ink off leaving the ink only in the groves. You place the plate on a rollo press with a piece of damp paper on top.The damp paper can easily get into the groves.once the plate is ready to be pressed you simply roll the roller over the plate. once the piece of plate has been rolled over you take the paper off the top. your image should be printed onto this. then you leave the paper to dry and your done.

etching is a type of intaglio print. A metal plate is covered with waxy or acrylic substance.the artist then draws through the substance with a etching needle.

Stencil printing is varied, there is a type of stencil called screen printing where the image is exposed to a silk screen covered in uv sensitive light, then a image on a laminate is placed under the uv sensitive screen and placed in a uv light box. this transfers the image to the screen. you then wash the screen, now its ready to use.
